Listening to Your Inner Voice!

As a child I was very in tune with my inner voice as all children are. We are so divinely connected as children and somewhere along the road of growing up we are told that we are crazy if we hear voices. I was scolded, spanked, sent to my room for sharing what my inner voice would say to me. I was told that my imagination would get me in trouble and if I knew what was good for me that I would just shut up. At some point around 4 or 5 years of age, I decided that this must not be a good thing and shut it off, refusing to listen to it anymore.

Every one of us has a Sixth Sense referred to as intuition or psychic ability. The sad fact is that most of us in the baby boomer age turned it off somewhere in childhood and quit listening just like I did. I am here to tell you that this higher guidance is your friend and it is here to help you live your life in harmony with the divine source. I am not talking religion here, I am talking spirituality! We all have a body, a mind and a spirit. They work together or should work together to bring you into balance and harmony with WHO you are meant to BE, who you agreed to BE when you came into this world.

I totally ignored my inner voice for many years. I would still hear it but I would not pay any attention to it or follow its promptings. I could probably fill up a whole book with stories from the occurrences of not following those promptings that I received but I won’t. Instead I would like to tell you about a recent story that happened. Something that happened just today!

We have been experiencing a lot of rain this week where I live in FL and today was no different. I looked outside and it wasn’t looking too great. but I wanted to go to my Thursday noon networking meeting. I started getting ready and my mind was telling me that it was nasty outside and just to stay home. However, my inner voice was telling me I needed to GO, GO NOW! It was pouring down rain by this time and I wasn’t too happy about running out into this awful storm. Besides, my umbrella was in the car which meant I would be drenched by the time I even got to my car. But my intuition kept telling me to GO, GO NOW.

After living many years ignoring this voice, I learned to tune back into it about the time I hit 50. It started coming on in my mid forties but I was very leery to tune back into it, still thinking it was bad. Call it what you want but it is your internal guidance system and when you are tapped into listening to it, it will never steer you wrong. I have learned the signals that show up in my body, the body chills that go throughout me when I am listening or hearing TRUTH, the knot that comes into my solar plexus when something is not in my highest and best good, the little voice that urges me to do something that makes no sense to me. I have learned not to question and simply follow this guidance. It really is very simple to do.

So today when I heard GO, GO NOW, I didn’t question it and took off running for my car. Wishing that my car door clicker still worked and I didn’t have to waste time putting the key into the lock and unlocking it. Wishing that I had an umbrella and not just my rain coat! Wishing that there weren’t huge puddles of water all over and a BIG one right in front of my car door! All of this could have very well deterred my decision but I have learned to listen to my inner voice and it told me to GO, GO NOW! As I was driving, not able to even see the road because it was pouring down so hard and the wind was blowing extremely hard. There were branches from trees blowing across the road and I could feel my car rocking from the wind as well. I had only been gone from my house less than 15 minutes and had only made it less than 2 miles from where I live when I heard that inner guidance speak once again, telling me it was OK to return home. At the rate I was able to drive I would not have made it to my meeting on time anyway. Once again I listened and returned home. Upon arriving I saw all the branches that came down lying right where my car had been parked. Had I not listened to that inner guidance my car would have sustained some major damage from those fallen branches. This isn’t the first time my inner voice has saved me from disaster and I know it won’t be the last either.

YOU also have an inner voice, a divine guidance system. Start tuning in and listening to it. You may question whether it truly is your divine guidance at first and that is OK, you will feel it in your heart if it is truly your inner voice. If you feel it in your head, that is NOT your inner guidance. We have been conditioned to listen to our head and that is not where you will find your truth or your inner divine guidance. Always connect with your heart.

Once again, I am so extremely grateful to know without a doubt when to listen to my inner voice. It is my life purpose to help others to rediscover their abilities, to educate, enlighten and empower individuals to love, honor and respect themselves with authentic clarity. Our world is in serious trouble right now and it is time we all realign with the Divine Self. We are all of one energy, the divine source energy that created this world, each one of us, the animals, the beautiful trees, flowers, rock formations, oceans and it is time we get back in touch with our heart energy, our divine self, our inner voice that is directly connected to Spirit, God, The Universe or whatever you want to call it.
