Life Is Short

How many times have you heard someone say, “Life is Short”? I bet many times during your lifetime. Well I want to share my personal story with you on this subject.

Many say my life could have been a Soap Opera story line. I just laugh and say it has brought me to where I am today, which is happy and full of love. God has blessed me and I am here to say to you, “Life IS Short”, so take heed to that phrase.

On January 19, 2001, I began my day like any other day. Got up and was getting ready for work. My husband, Don, was leaving for the hospital at 6:00am to start his 12 hour shift in the ER. I remember him smiling at me, kissing me goodbye and saying he loved me, a usual ritual we had every morning. What I never could have imagined at that time, was, it was the very last time we would do that. The reason I now personally know, “Life IS Short”.

Thirty minutes after he left, my neighbor called and told me to come down the mountain the back way because there had been a wreck. My intuition told me, “It’s Don”. I called the front gate and asked them if it was my husband and they said they didn’t know. Starting to panic, I called the hospital to see if he had arrived. At that moment, my call waiting beep started. I switched over and the front gate guard told me it was Don. I flew down the road to get to the site of the accident. He was still alive but trapped in the car. It took the emergency crew 3 hours to get him free. We rushed to the hospital where they tried extreme measures to save his life but at 10:45 PM he lost that fight.

That day taught me some very valuable lessons that I like to share with all that will listen.

1. Life IS Short and no matter what, NEVER leave your house or let anyone else leave your house in anger. That could be the last words they hear from you.

2. Always suck it up and tell your loved one I Love You when leaving each other. No matter what the situation at the time. “Life Is Short”

This sad situation was very hard but because of my faith in God, I got through it with the help of friends, family and even strangers. God gave me the comfort I needed through all these people.

So girlfriends, I understand that a husband, boyfriend , daughter, son, sister, brother, or even a parent can ruffle our feathers at times, BUT we love them. Anytime you get into a situation, where you want to leave angry, please remember that phrase, “Life Is Short”. Be the bigger person and always say I love you. You will not have regrets if God decided that today was your loved ones last day here.

Thank you Beverly for revisiting that hurtful time in your life. Many times in my youth I heard the phrase, "Life is Short." Took it for granted because I did not truly understand that. However, life lessons did teach me that yes "Life is Truly Short" I love that my husband believes in the concept and no matter what we end our day saying, "I love you."

Hello My Friend Beverly - what a sweet inspirational and heartfelt message - I just finished an interview on Heart and Soul Blog Talk Radio with Beth Scanzani and your message touched me so yesterday while reading it on The Women of Facebook that I mentioned your YOUR VOICE - I am certain many will read this wonderful sincere post and they will say, "I LOVE YOU".....

Nancy
